Rushing For Time??

Well, this next incident teaches us all not to wake up late for games and also not to take our time if we do wake up early. Because when we wake up late or when we take our time, sometimes we really need to rush and so we tend to forget things when we're in that rush for time. Some of us forget to bathe and therefore games have to be cancelled due to heavy showers to wash us up.
Some may forget to brush their teeth and some even may forget to bring their socks or shin-pads for the game. But this person, a valuable player of Remix and interesting character in the team forgot to bring something that is quite important AFTER a game. As you can already see or guess, he forgot his... YES! he forgot his EXTRA shorts to change. Adding to that he couldnt wear his playing shorts as it was already drenched due to the heavy rain. And since he had no other choice, his "BOXERS" came to the rescue...alone!

So this incident teaches us a lesson guys. Sleep early the night before the game and just for that weekend since game is so early in the morning, skip clubbing. Then we can wake up early for morning games, prepare our stuff or pack everything the day before so that we won't forget anything. And if you still insist on partying all night on Saturday, MAKE SURE you guys just pack everything the day before and ask someone to wake you up on Sunday. For those who forgot or didn't have time to bathe or brush teeth or what ever, this lesson applies to you guys too.

Victim: Gerard Chelliah
Forgot: Extra Shorts
Reason (predicted): Rushing for Time

Gerard says: "Oh! I just forgot la. The guys were already on their way to pick me up so I was rushing. I din wake up late or wad so ever la...just really forgot!"

(another post below...please ask your fellow team-mates to come view this bloggy and comment too..)

What A Waste!!

What a waste on Sunday for the game against the current leaders, the Brazilians to be cancelled halfway due to the pouring rain, treacherous thunder and striking lightning. Though the score was still 0-0 in the first 30-40mins of the match, Remix was definitely going to get their well-derserved goal sooner or later. Many chances for both sides but still, it was a waste not to see the final result.

The game has been postponed to another date (not mentioned yet) but definitely not soon. Remix will be waiting for the Brazilian Boys. Until then, Remix has to concentrate on their next game against MATADOR Football Club this coming Sunday. The match will be held at Singapore Sports School. Being at a very 'special place', Remix might find it pressurizing playing over there. But for MATADOR, not pressurizing at all since almost all their games were played there. Though they have been losing all their games and only drawing one, Remix is not ready to under-estimate them just yet. The last time these two met, MATADOR won Remix 4-3. This time with Remix's good game records, things might be a bit different.

Next Game: 30th September 2007 (Sunday)
Venue: Singapore Sports School
Time: 11am
Opponents: MATADOR Football Club

Once in a while I need to remind teams of their obligations to make payments in a timely manor, my accounts department has recently highlighted to me that your balance due to ESPZEN is long overdue TOTAL 1,345. I would request that you reply to this mail as a matter of urgency highlighting when your outstanding balance will be settled.

If you have made a payment please highlight this by replying to this mail.

I would like to remind you as team manager(s) it is your direct responsibility to ensure payments arrive on a timely manor.

We operate our league with high standards and we believe teams should respect payment deadlines.

Please rectify the situation ASAP and please follow the payment schedule going forward as per the invoice.

Should you have any questions regarding your account please email club@espzen.com for clarification.

We trust this is an oversight and you will rectify immediately.

No Turning Back!!

Brazilian Schools are top in the table and Remix has dropped to second. To acclaim top place in the table again, Remix must continue to fight and try to win all their games. If that is not possible, then by sticking to their primary goal for this season should be enough.

PRIMARY GOAL: Remix Will Not Lose Any Games This Season!!

First place might be possible at the next game for Remix as they meet the current leaders, the Brazilians. Winning it will secure first place for Remix, but failing to do so might cause problems for them as they are currently down by 2 points.

In order to sit in first place for the entire season, Remix has no chance to look back at all. Instead, winning all their games must be priority for them. So Remix...there's No Turning Back!!

Next Game: 23rd September 2007 (Sunday)
Venue: PUB Pitch

Player of the Month September

To reward and recognise our boys for their hardwork and sacrifice, the management will be nominating one outstanding player each month for the Player of the Month award. This month's recepient is none other than our tough no nonsense tackling centre back Viknesh.

Vickneshwaran s/o paneer selvam a.k.a. Vik

GRFC: Hi Vik, you've been voted play of the month by a newly formed panel consisting of 3 judges. This is a new intiative to reward good performances from our gab remix boys as we chase for titles on all fronts. What are your thoughts on having this 'player of the month' awards and how do you feel being its 1st ever receipient?

Vik: I feel honored and surprised that I'm nominated for this honorable title of player of the month and especially being its first ever receipient. However, I feel that my fellow team mates are equally worthy of this title.

GRFC: Coming into the new season, we've seen quite a few changes in the team, i.e. with players leaving (Darren, Jiawei, Aaron), and some new arrivals like Justin, Joey, Melvyn, Santino. What are your thoughts on the new signings and do you think the team is improved compared to previous seasons?

Vik: It is sad to lose a few experienced players who have been with the team from the start. Nevertheless, the new players are equally outstanding and they have proven their capabilities in the past few games. I feel our team has become more disciplined on the pitch; which has helped us improve in our matches. Although I feel there is room for improvement, especially in terms of punctuality (myself included).

GRFC: With 2 centrebacks leaving and only Justin in, do you feel the increased game time that has helped you shine and display your capabilities.

Vik: I always give every game my best, regardless how long my play time is. Well of course the increased game time has allowed me to improve and fully get absorbed into the game and work better with my fellow defenders.

GRFC: You're been in the team from the beginning, do you feel you've improved as a player and in which aspect in particular?

Vik: I believe all the exposure has helped me improve as a player. I've learnt to be more tactful and less aggressive on the field. And also adapt to working with all our different last men especially Terence.

GRFC: Remix has played countless of competitive and hard games throughout the seasons, even reaching the 1NiteStand final, is there any one particular game there has special significance to you that you recall most fondly?

Vik: It would have to be the 1NiteStand finals at Jalan Besar Stadium. It was a dream come true for me to reach this far,to play in a 'prestigious' stadium. It was a joy to reach the finals. However, the outcome of losing the match was painful. I'm glad we have improved eversince.

GRFC: Which team do you support in the EPL and what are your predictions for this season?

Vik: Manchester United! I predict Man U will win the championship as they get back on track.

GRFC: and your prediction for Remix this season?

Vik: We're definitely gonna keep the top spot for ourselves.

GRFC: What will you be doing this weekend since there is no game?

Vik: Probably be resting...maybe street soccer?

GRFC: What are you listening to at the moment?

Vik: Song: California , Artiste: phantom planet

guys i would like to thank those involved for putting their time and effort for OUR team on and off the pitch... the team that i love to get up every sunday morning to play with my frenz.... thank you......

GRFC: Thanks for your time Vik, and once again congrats!

Tower of Pisa fallen for ITALIA FC?

A remarkable game played on Sunday by Remix, leaving the Italians dumbfounded and mesmerized. The final score Gabrielite Remix 4 - 1 ITALIA FC. But getting to this scoreline was so interesting. The game started out quite boring because both teams were not attacking much. Speaking of attacks, though Remix did get a few shots (off/on target), the Italians only got one. A few substitutions made after 25mins for Remix caused them to concede an easy goal for the Italians. Melvyn Savio coming on for his brother Kelvyn Owen was actually a mistake. Melvyn was spoiling the whole game for Remix in that 10-15 mins he played for. Losing balls at dangerous areas and light passes which did not even reach his team-mates. Then, in the 30th min, after Melvyn lost the ball in a very dangerous area, led to the Italians squeezing through the middle of the Remix's defense and putting one in for themselves. Failing to give up, Remix still continued playing hard for the equaliser goal. And their efforts were not wasted at all. Melvin Koh pushing his way down the left flank and providing a beautiful cross to the right side of the penalty box. Patrick who was in the middle was blocking off the Italian defender from getting to the ball and then Salid from nowhere coming in to volley the equaliser goal for remix through the legs of the Italian keeper. Beautiful play! Remix continued fighting back and then unfortunately Melvyn who finally got back his focus in the game, while stretching out for the ball, pulled his groin muscle and was then unable to continue.
Then came the half time whistle.

Second half soon began. A few changes were made. Kelvyn coming back on for Melvyn and Ravi coming on for Yip who sprained his ankle. Remix, knowing what they were really made of, showed the Italians what they could achieve. Just 15mins into the game, a ball into the penalty box of the Italians, a few Remix players in there too, including Patrick who finally got the ball, went towards the keeper and then finishing off with a beautiful chip past the keeper. The Italians were a bit scary as they got a couple of dangerous shots at Ravi who did extremely well to clear them off. Then after just 5mins a through ball from the midfield fell to Patrick who brought the ball up and furthur into the penalty box and blasting the 3rd goal for Remix into the net. Looks like Remix wanted at least one more for themselves when Melvin played another beautiful through ball past the Italian defense. Patrick getting the ball, Mike getting into position and the pass from Patrick, led to the 4th goal by Mike.
Wonderful wonderful game!!
Final Score: 4-1...Final whistle was blown.

The referee was quite alright actually. Except for his final whistle going off 15 mins into game due to one, just ONE Italian player who was complaining to the referee about a throw in not given to them. Touchy Ref, Touchy!!

Besides that, both teams did well, but Remix once again proving what they're worth. So Remix! Continue to show others that you can really do it.

Players To Thank:
Patrick - proving his mettle by scoring 2 goals for the team
Salid - as usual, did extremely well in the middle
Melvin - remarkable crosses and through passes that led to goals
Whole Defence - good job at the back, denying all attacks

Pat in the Hat!!

A game of madness between Remix and East of Anfield (EOA) on Sunday. Remix once again playing at the Cantonment Pitch against last season's Division 3 Champions and this time beating them with a 5-2 victory. Remix has met these past Champions twice last season and has never won them before but they have finally proven a point to themselves.

The game started at 1pm and ten minutes into the game and a thrown-in given to Remix at a very dangerous spot. Quick thinking by Mike giving a long throw straight to Pat who was just in front of the keeper, heading it past him for the first goal. Soon after that, it started to pour heavily. Both teams continued to play despite the bad weather. For Remix, they took it very seriously and managed to control the game. 20mins later, Mike once again, with his passion and determination got the ball through his opponents and giving a through ball to Pat who went past the keeper with just a single touch (Winning Eleven Style), and putting his name on the score sheet again. Just 5mins before the referee blew for this first half to be over, Mike came off for Joey who surprised us all by scoring in a very tight position, leaving the keeper dumbfounded.
Then came the half time whistle.

Second half started with the mindset for Remix to maintain the scoreline at 3-0 in the first 15mins. Nesh coming on for the injured Terence, made a blistering run down the left flank, eventually threading a through ball into the box. Joey latched on to it, beating the offside trap and squaring it in for Patrick to complete his "Hat-Trick". With a 4-0 lead, Remix took their foot off the pedal, creating chances for EOA to pull a goal back for themselves after a goal-mouth scramble. The Remix defenders failing to clear the ball out due to the slippery conditions. Then a further lapse in concentration allowed another goal to seep through after careless free kick was given just a few yards outside the penalty box. The resulting free kick deflected off the wall and made its way past the keeper. Then with just 15mins left to play, the ball coming off the head of Mike led to Kelvyn who took off with the burst of lightning straight into the box, past the defenders and putting his name on the score sheet with a thunderous shot past the keeper.

The referee, this time was very generous with his cards flashing his yellow card many times to EOA and one to Remix. His generosity led to sending off two players with a red card with the charge of shoving and hustling and covering their face after the tackle was made. Remix player Justin who was sent off was not even involved in the tackle.

Both teams played hard to get the win but clearly Remix was victorious from the beginning. EOA fought back hard for the two goals for themselves but still was not enough to get close.

Players To Thank:
-Viknesh: played tremendously well at the back keeping his cool, exemplary performance.
-Joey: scoring everytime he appears on the pitch.
-Yip: made extremely remarkable saves at the most crucial times.
-Patrick: he got his Hat-Trick, 4 goals in total.
-Mike: created so many chances for goals, good job
-Big Mel: taking care of the game from outside.
