Matador loses Bull Fight!

An excellent game played on Sunday as Remix beat Matador FC 6-3. The weather was scorching hot that day but Remix still played to their best and did what they came to do. Remix led in a very controversial goal in the 8th min. Keeper Yip was out to get the ball, Matador's player was pushing Yip away with his back and then just in that mess of things, the ball managed to go past the keeper. Remix, obviously not planning to give up, got back the equaliser in the 15th min thanks to someone who has finally scored his first goal for the team this season, Right-back Faisal aka Fez. The leading marksman for Remix, Pat worked hard and rewarded the travelling fans with a goal to put Remix into the lead. 2-1 to Remix at half-time.

The second half started with a rage to get more goals in and that is exactly what Remix did. With a blitz of 4 goals coming in a space of 25 minutes, Remix turned on the style during the course of the mid day sun.

Just 5mins into the second half, Pat scored his second of the day, by running the Matador defence ragged before slotting past the keeper and a sliding defender. Pat never let up and went on to set up the 4th goal for Remix. Pat, after skipping past the Matador defence, played the ball across the goal for the incoming Melvin Koh to easily score his first of the season. The 5th Goal for Remix came courtesy of a good follow up by Melvyn Savio who volleyed in after a long shot from Francis was saved by the goalkeeper who punched high into the path of Melvyn. Although Melvyn was tackled from the back after he had already taken the shot, the referee felt that it was a 50-50 challenge. Not the only disturbing decision from the referee, throughout the game.

Well, fortunately Melvyn managed to pick himself up following the challenge. Another horrific challenge from the already frustrated Matador Defence, that left Melvin Koh sprawling on the ground, was only let off with only a yellow card warning much to the dismay of the players who were so near the action. Remix continued to pile on the pressure and were more than happy to score a 6th. The ever-present Salid, who has turned in solid performances in the past month, was rewarded with a goal of his own. He cooly collected the deposits left by the goalkeeper once again saving from a Pat shot. The ball nicely hit the post before finding its way into the net.

With that, Remix thought it would be okay to take their foots off the pedal and were disastrously punished. It was a telling performance from new signing Justin Prawiradiraja who has grown in confidence as the games go by. His discipline at the backline kept the Matador Strikers at bay. However, it was after his substitution that 2 goals leaked in. With a desire to get more goals, the defence pushed up a little too much leaving the Matador strikers unattended. Not the first time, that Remix have conceded late goals, thus the influx of Goals Conceded. Something that the team has to work on in order to stand a chance of lasting the season.

Overall, a good team performance, with awesome spells of passing football along some super smooth turf. A very enjoyable game and a good aura for the entire week. But as they say, "IT"S NOT OVER TILL THE FAT LADY SINGS". So let's all continue to work hard and make it a season to remember.

-Terence possibly out for the season. (Knee Ligament Damage)

Was a great game... I obviously had one of my best game, but couldn't have done it without the others. Good performances from everyone in the team! The Midfields, Salid especially, made sure no balls were played through the defense... Fullbacks Ves and Nesh protected the Flanks very well... Kai had a good debut, and of course, the forwards eased the pressure by taking their chances. Everyone deserves the credit, although it must be noted that some got carried away towards the end and, as a result, leaked a couple of goals in.

Next up the Barbarians... not the prettiest players around, but they are 3rd in the league at the moment! Which means they are indeed good enough to be in this division and they are very capable of causing an upset. Lets keep our heads down and keep our discipline. With the venue change back to the Singapore Sports School again, I think its a big advantage to us to keep playing our passing game. So lets keep our focus and make the most of this advantage.

Cheers!
Juzz

p.s. Mel, We are all very narcisstic... can u send some of those pics to me as well please?
